Cruise Description 12 Night cruise departing from Bordeaux to London onboard Crystal Endeavor.

Explore the vineyards of Bordeaux and cruise the Garonne River en route to Nantes on the Loire River to discover medieval châteaux and wineries. Enjoy calls in Brittany and the Channel Islands, two nights in Amsterdam and an overnight in London.

Highlights of this cruise:

BORDEAUX, FRANCE
PORT OF THE MOON
This UNESCO-designated city known as Port of the Moon due the natural shape of its harbor is celebrated for its glorious chateaux, its mouth-watering cuisine and its incomparable wines – Bordeaux is surrounded by the world's most famous vineyards including Medoc, St-Emilion, Pomerol, Graves and Sauternes. One time the richest community and largest port in France, Bordeaux today is second only to Paris as the country's most densely populated city.

NANTES, FRANCE
GRAND GATEWAY TO THE LOIRE
It is the capital of both ancient Brittany and modern creativity. Magnificent Renaissance châteaux prove the former; for evidence of the latter, look no further than the fantastical Machines of Nantes – gigantic sculptures of steam-punk clockwork. An overnight here in the birthplace of Jules Verne allows for discoveries of the magical, UNESCO-listed Loire Valley, where famed vineyards grace the landscape and where artists and authors have fallen under its spell.

BELLE-ILE-EN-MER, FRANCE
THE BEAUTIFUL ISLE
Step ashore and discover why this Brittany coast island captured the heart of Sarah Bernhardt, Claude Monet and countless other artists over the years. And not just for its warm beauty, but for its rugged wildness, as well. Bike past crescent beaches and secluded coves, hike a plateau where spectacular ravines plunge down to a roaring surf. Savor Breton delicacies along a color-drenched harbor or sip refreshments on a clifftop terrace, watching the sun and the sea dance in perfect harmony.

CONCARNEAU, FRANCE
BRETON DISCOVERIES
The draw of France's third-largest fishing port, Brittany's Concarneau, is its charming Ville Close, a medieval walled town jutting into a harbor sprinkled with fishing trawlers and pleasure yachts. Cross its stone footbridge to enter the main gate to stroll the ramparts, visit the maritime heritage museum, or browse galleries and shops. Other nearby places worth a look are Quimper, with its medieval old town, the picturesque village of Locronan, and Pont-Aven, immortalized by Paul Gauguin.

ST-MALO, FRANCE
GATEWAY TO MONT ST-MICHEL
Within its fortified walls, this city of bustling shops, cafés and bars is home to the highest concentration of seafood restaurants in Europe. Heavily bombed during World War II, it was lovingly restored to its original splendor. The city's top destination is the citadel, from where Corsairs would raid enemy ships in the name of the King. Be sure to take a stroll atop the ramparts for magical views, and save time for a journey to the medieval Mont St-Michel abbey.

ST. HELIER, JERSEY
A BAILIWICK UNTO ITSELF
Floating betwixt England and France, the Channel Islands chart their own geopolitical course. And Jersey’s is especially scenic, with its rugged coastline and balmy Gulf Stream-kissed climate, shown off with green abandon at the Samarès Manor botanical garden. But all is not butterflies and roses around here; Hitler used Jersey as a massive WWII bulwark, and his observation towers, bunkers and subterranean hospital are enduring reminders. Mont Orgeuil Castle (1212) is an even older war relic.

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS
CULTURE & CANALS
Everyone has an image of Amsterdam. For some, it’s small boats gliding on the canals and locals two-wheeling on bikes to work and, as frequently, to meet friends for drinks. For others, it’s gabled buildings leaning, seemingly precariously, over cobbled streets and cozy taverns illuminated by candles. Still others imagine tulips in bloom and the paintings Vermeer, Van Gogh and Rembrandt. Each vision is even more beguiling when experienced in person.

LONDON (GREENWICH), ENGLAND
THE HOME OF TIME
Located the banks of the River Thames (and our gateway to London), Greenwich is home to rich history both regal and naval – with UNESCO-designated palaces, museums and London’s prettiest royal park. But more than anything, Greenwich is home to time itself for it is here that the world’s Prime Meridian – longitude zero – is marked in the Royal Observatory. Visit Greenwich Palace where King Henry VIII and Elizabeth I were born, and where Anne Boleyn was arrested and taken by boat to The Tower of London.
